How to get your sex life back on track after pregnancy
The baby has finally arrived and you're enjoying spending all the time you can with him! However, as a couple, things might be getting a little complicated and there are several post-natal issues that might pose an obstacle to your sex lives. Bearing this in mind, we’ve come up with some great ideas to help you get back in to the swing of things...
How can hormones affect your libido?
As we all know, hormones can often disrupt the day-to-day life of a young mother. Why? At the end of a 9-month pregnancy, the expulsion of the placenta triggers a reduction in hormones. (1) The rate of many hormones (like HCG, progresterone, etc) falls rapidly following labour. The sudden collapse in hormone release triggers a transformation often responsible for the ‘Baby Blues’, which affects 8 out of 10 mothers. (2) As well as inducing tiredness, these hormone changes can also affect the libido.
In order not to continually frustrate your partner, make sure to talk about and describe the changes you’ve experienced, make sure they know it’s not their fault. Encourage your partner to attend post-natal visits, where the gynecologists and midwives have all the facts your beloved needs for assurance.
How to increase your sexual performance after childbirth ? Perineal gym is your solution !
Young parents are often scared they’ll not find the same pleasures they shared before pregnancy - i.e. their sex life won’t be as interesting. “What if my vagina was damaged during labout and I can’t give my partner the same sensations he experienced before”?
What can you do about it? Female organs tend to get their elasticity back in under a few weeks. You can help it along by engaging in Kegel exercises, a reduction method that was formulated in the 40's. To use the Kegel method, you first need to identify the muscles you’ll work on (they’re the ones you use when you want to stop your urinary flow), then engage in repetitive muscle contraction. In the long term, the regular exercise of the Kegel method can even help you to discover new sensations!
What about in the case of an episiotomy or cesarean delivery?
During certain births, small incisions need to be made to facilitate labour. In the case of an episiotomy or a caesarean delivery, the pain can last for several days and weeks after the birth. These types of births can often result in lessened desire for the mother.
What can you do about it? In many countries, especially in Latin America, women carry out a sexual quarrantine after birth. In reality, it takes around 40 days for the body to heal itself completely and the discomfort to disapear, even in uncomplicated labours.
Pregnant seduction : how to use your figure to stimulate libido after birth.
It takes a little while to lose those extra pounds you put on during pregnancy, so why not use them as a seduction asset in the meantime?
What can you do about it? Reassure yourself - it’s really, really normal to gain weight during pregnancy, where your hormones are boosting your apetite and forcing you to eat more. Use your curves to your advantage and cover up the remaining stretch marks in evocative lingerie. Use your assets - your breasts (usually growing extra, extra large during the first few months) will look amazing in a nice corset.
